Norman Rockwell painting fetches $2.8 million at Chicago auction Saturday, Dec 01, 2012 05:37 PM PST CHICAGO (Reuters) - Norman Rockwell's World War Two painting "Willie Gillis Food Package from Home" fetched $2.8 million from a private buyer at an auction in Chicago on Saturday, the auction house said. The winning bid for the iconic artwork was less than the up to $5 million estimated ahead of the auction, said Emily Betts Susanin, director of marketing and communications for Susanin's Auctions in Chicago. Police identify three dead in bizarre Wyoming murder-suicide Saturday, Dec 01, 2012 05:34 PM PST (Reuters) - A Wyoming college professor slain by bow and arrow in his classroom died at the hands of his son, who also killed the woman who shared his father's home before stabbing himself to death, police said on Saturday, a day after the double murder and suicide. Police also said the father, Jim Krumm, 56, who taught computer science at Casper College, managed to stagger to his feet despite being "mortally wounded" from the arrow shot to his head, and grappled with his son, allowing his students to flee the classroom unharmed. ... Carrie Underwood to star in new "Sound of Music" broadcast Saturday, Dec 01, 2012 03:13 PM PST LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Country singer Carrie Underwood will perform "My Favorite Things" and other tunes from the musical "The Sound of Music" when she portrays Maria von Trapp in a live broadcast of the perennial favorite, NBC television said on Friday. In a production to be aired late next year, the five-time Grammy winner will star as the rebellious would-be nun who married Austrian Naval commander Georg von Trapp and fled the Nazis with him and his children.
