Icy weather due by end of week  Sunday, Dec 01, 2013 07:46 PM PST Freezing conditions and snow are set to sweep across the country this week with icy winds set to send temperatures as low as -9C by Friday, according to the Met Office. "Snow showers are also expected on Thursday as very strong winds that could reach gale force -- up to 50mph -- batter the northeast," said Met Office forecaster Helen Roberts.
