Rocker Lou Reed of Velvet Underground dies at 71 Sunday, Oct 27, 2013 05:14 PM PDT By Jonathan Allen and Daniel Trotta NEW YORK (Reuters) - Lou Reed, the pioneering songwriter and musician behind the influential rock band Velvet Underground, which fused art and music in collaboration with artist Andy Warhol, died on Sunday at the age of 71, his literary agent said. Reed, best recognized by mainstream audiences for his 1972 solo hit "Walk on the Wild Side," died at the Long Island home he shared with his wife, Laurie Anderson, following complications from a liver transplant he underwent earlier this year, his agent, Andrew Wylie, said. ... Fleetwood Mac's John McVie has cancer, band cancels part of world tour Sunday, Oct 27, 2013 02:27 PM PDT (Reuters) - Fleetwood Mac bass guitarist John McVie has been diagnosed with cancer and the rock group has canceled the Australian and New Zealand leg of its world tour so that he can undergo treatment, the band said on Sunday. The band, known for such 1970s hits as "Don't Stop" and "Dreams," had just completed the European segment of the tour. It was to make 14 stops in Australia and New Zealand, the group said in a statement on its website. Rapper Chris Brown arrested in Washington over assault Sunday, Oct 27, 2013 09:24 AM PDT WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Rapper Chris Brown was arrested and charged with assault in Washington early on Sunday after getting into a fight with a man outside a hotel near the White House, police said. Brown was charged with felony assault at 4:25 a.m. (3.25 a.m. ET) after the altercation outside the W Hotel, a few hundred yards (meters) from the White House, Officer Anthony Clay of the Metropolitan Police Department said.
