Canada Competition Bureau approves Empire Co's sale of cinemas

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada's Competition Bureau said on Tuesday it had approved the sale of cinemas by Empire Company Ltd to Cineplex and Landmark after requesting some changes. Under the terms of the revised deal, Cineplex and Landmark will buy a total of 46 cinemas from Empire. When Empire announced the deals in June it said the total value of the transactions would be about $255 million. Empire had initially planned to sell two cinemas in Ontario to Cineplex. The bureau said this would decrease competition and as a result, Landmark agreed to buy the two cinemas instead. ...

France's M6 says sales rise on pick up in TV advertising

PARIS (Reuters) - France's second-biggest private broadcaster, M6, posted a 3.7 percent rise in third-quarter sales on Tuesday, helped by a pick-up in advertising across its four channels that ended a period of weak demand. Revenue was 293 million euros ($403 million) in the three months ended September 30, while ad revenue at M6's main channel swung back to 2.5 percent growth after two declining quarters, the company said in a statement.
