Arizona man arrested for fake grenade launcher stunt

Reuters - PHOENIX (Reuters) - Police have arrested an Arizona man who filmed his 16-year-old nephew walking city streets dressed in a sheet and carrying a fake grenade launcher in an apparent bid to test police responses after the Denver theater shooting, authorities said on Wednesday. Michael David Turley, 39, was arrested on Monday over the making of the video, in which an unidentified narrator says he aims to "find out how safe I really am" in Phoenix following the July Denver shooting that killed 12 people and wounded 58. ... Ex-Credit Suisse trader arrested in subprime case

Reuters -  NEW YORK (Reuters) - A former senior Credit Suisse Group AG trader was arrested in London on Wednesday and faces extradition to the United States on fraud charges involving subprime mortgage bonds worth $3 billion. The arrest of Kareem Serageldin, former global head of structure credit trading for Credit Suisse, marks an apparent victory for U.S. prosecutors, who earlier this year won convictions against two of the his former colleagues. Activist Arrested for Defacing Anti-Muslim Subway Posters

The Atlantic Wire -  Mona Eltahawy, an Egyptian journalist and activist, made a very public show of defacing a controversial "anti-jihad" ad in a New York subway station, and getting herself arrested in the process. Eltahawy marked the ads in the Times Square subway station with pink spray paint as one of the ads supporters tried in vain to stand in her way and for the New York Post.

New York experiencing a big Apple-centric crime spree

BGR News -  The Big Apple is apparently not a good place to show off your Apple (AAPL) devices. Per Gothamist, the New York Police Department says that crimes involving Apple products have increased by 40% over the last year, a rate increase that's 10 times as large as the overall crime rate increase of 4% over the last year. The NYPD helpfully advises that "individuals alert to their surroundings are less likely to become victims of thefts of iPhones and other handheld devices," so it's probably best not to get lost in Central Park at 2 in the morning while relying on Apple's iOS 6 maps application to bail you out.
