Netflix shares could continue to rise: Barron's

Netflix stock climbed almost 20 percent last week to $81.89, the paper said. The company gained attention after its CEO, Reed Hastings, said Netflix subscribers streamed one billion hours of video in June, a record for the service, the paper said. Netflix qualifies as the most watched channel in either broadcast or cable television in the United States, said analyst Richard Greenfield of BTIG. ...

The world's top smart phone maker said an investigation by Fire Investigations (UK) had stated that the Samsung device was not responsible for the cause of the fire, and that an "external energy source was responsible for generating the heat". Verizon dismisses patent from TiVo suit

Reuters - NEW YORK (Reuters) - Verizon Communications has dismissed a patent from its case against TiVo Inc, leaving the telephone company with only patent claim against the digital video recorder developer. "The filing today doesn't affect the substance of Verizon's case or our likelihood of success. These were simply procedural steps," Verizon spokesman Ed McFadden said. Judge approves Netflix privacy settlement

Reuters - (Reuters) - A federal judge has granted preliminary approval to Netflix Inc's $9 million settlement of class-action litigation accusing the video rental company of violating consumer privacy laws. U.S. District Judge Edward Davila in San Jose, California, said the accord reached in February "compares favorably" to recent settlements of other consumer privacy cases, including with Google Inc and Facebook Inc. Sandvine posts wider-than-expected loss

Reuters - (Reuters) - Canadian network equipment maker Sandvine Corp posted a wider-than-expected quarterly loss as revenue fell 24 percent. Second-quarter net loss was $4.2 million, or 3 cents per share, compared with a net income of $1.7 million, or 1.2 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue fell to $18.6 million from $24.5 million.
