R&B singer James DeBarge, who was briefly married to Janet Jackson in the 1980s, was arrested for drug possession in Los Angeles, police said on Friday. Police took DeBarge, 50, into custody on Thursday on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine, said Los Angeles police spokeswoman Officer Norma Eisenman. Eisenman could release no further details on his arrest, but DeBarge was listed as being held with no bail at a Los Angeles Police Department jail. In 2011, DeBarge was convicted in Los Angeles County of possession of a controlled substance, according to the local District Attorney's Office.

Second dead Dutch bishop found guilty of sex abuse of minors

* Archdiocese says abuse commission confirmed complaints * Amsterdam newspaper uncovered story * Few bishops have been named as abusers themselves By Tom Heneghan, Religion Editor PARIS (Reuters) - The Dutch Catholic Church, in the second such embarrassing admission this month, announced on Friday that a bishop who died in 2000 had been found guilty of sexually abusing boys decades ago. Utrecht archdiocese, where Johannes Nienhaus was auxiliary bishop from 1982 to 1999, said a commission investigating the scandals that have shaken the Catholic Church in many countries in the past decade had confirmed four complaints against him. Earlier this month, Roermond diocese said its late bishop Johannes Gijsen had sexually abused two boys, also decades ago. The Utrecht announcement came two days before the late Pope John Paul II, whom critics accuse of failing to investigate the clerical sex abuse scandal as evidence of it piled up in the later years of his pontificate, is to be declared a saint.

Cops capture fugitive Lesotho 'cannibal'

Interpol headquarters building in Lyon, France, on October 19, 2007South African police have captured a 27-year-old prison escapee from Lesotho who has confessed to multiple murders and cannibalism, after a two year cross-border manhunt involving Interpol. Makhele Scott admitted to killing and eating two people in Lesotho in 2012, but escaped from Maseru Central Prison while awaiting trial. Earlier this month agents from Lesotho, South Africa and Interpol tracked Scott to a church outside Durban, South Africa, where he was living and playing in the church band.

"They (Kiev) are waging a war on their own people. This is a bloody crime, and those who pushed the army to do that will pay, I am sure, and will face justice," Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, told a meeting of diplomats. Credit rating agency Standard & Poor's also provided a reminder of the costs of the dispute to Moscow, as it cut the country's ratings, forcing Russia's central bank to raise its key interest rate to reverse a drop in the ruble.

The airport went into lockdown and sent out military trucks to meet the plane before concluding that the hijacking threat wasn't real. "This is no hijacking, this is a miscommunication," said Virgin Australia official Heru Sudjatmiko.

Russia's Lavrov: Kiev will face justice for 'bloody crime' in eastern Ukraine

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday denounced Kiev's security operation in eastern Ukraine as a "bloody crime" and said the interim government would face justice for staging a war against its own citizens. "They (Kiev) are waging a war on their own people. This is a bloody crime and those who pushed the army to do that will pay, I am sure, and will face justice," he told a meeting with young diplomats in Moscow.
