Algerian president in France for medical tests after minor stroke  Saturday, Apr 27, 2013 08:56 PM PDT By Lamine Chikhi ALGIERS (Reuters) - Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has been transferred to France for further medical tests after suffering a minor stroke on Saturday, Algeria's official news agency said. The APS agency said late on Saturday that Bouteflika, 76, was in Paris at the recommendation of his doctors. Merger of drugmakers Valeant, Actavis on hold: source  Saturday, Apr 27, 2013 06:19 PM PDT (Reuters) - A proposed merger of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc and Actavis Inc was put on hold after the two drugmakers failed to agree on terms of a deal that would have created a healthcare giant with a combined market value of $35 billion, a person familiar with the situation told Reuters on Saturday. Algerian President Bouteflika hospitalized: report  Saturday, Apr 27, 2013 01:48 PM PDT By Lamine Chikhi ALGIERS (Reuters) - Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika was hospitalized after a minor stroke on Saturday, according to the state press agency report that quoted the prime minister as saying his condition was "not serious". The health of 76-year-old Bouteflika is a central factor in the stability of an oil-exporting country of 37 million people that is emerging from a long conflict against Islamist insurgents. China reports new bird flu case in Hunan province  Saturday, Apr 27, 2013 04:56 AM PDT BEIJING (Reuters) - China on Saturday reported its first case of H7N9 bird flu in the southern province of Hunan, the latest sign the virus that has killed 23 people in the country is continuing to spread. The official Xinhua news agency said the patient was a 64-year-old woman from Shaoyang city who developed a fever on April 14, four days after having contact with poultry.
