Khan reinstated as WBA champion

Reuters - (Reuters) - Britain's Amir Khan has had his WBA super-lightweight title reinstated ahead of his fight against WBC champion Danny Garcia in Las Vegas, the governing body said on Wednesday. Khan lost his WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles to Lamont Peterson in controversial circumstances last December. "Justice has been done," Khan, was quoted as saying on the Sky Sports website (www1.skysports.com). "I'm glad the WBA are reinstating me as champion, it means I walk into this fight as world champion," said the 25-year-old, who fights undefeated American Garcia on Saturday. ... Full Story

O2 mobile users hit by network outage

Reuters - LONDON (Reuters) - Mobile operator O2 suffered a disruption in service on Wednesday, just weeks before networks are expected to face a jump in demand from the London Olympics. O2, owned by Spain's Telefonica, said on its website on Wednesday that it had a problem on its network causing some customers to have difficulty making or receiving calls, sending texts or using data. The outage began on Wednesday afternoon and continued into the evening. It was not based on geography and was not affecting all of the company's 23 million British users, O2 said. ... Full Story

Ohio family finds treasure trove of baseball cards

Reuters - (Reuters) - Karl Kissner and his cousin were rummaging through their late grandfather's attic in Defiance, Ohio, and at first ignored a box of baseball cards depicting long-ago stars Ty Cobb, Cy Young and Honus Wagner. Turned out, their discovery is worth millions. The 51-year-old restaurant owner compared his find in February to an art collector locating a long-lost "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci. "We're considering it the most significant find in the history of the hobby," said Chris Ivy of Heritage Auctions in Dallas, which is handling the sale of the cards. ... Full Story

"This extension will allow the court sufficient time to evaluate Mr. Armstrong's amended complaint," Tim Herman, a lawyer representing Armstrong, said in a statement. Armstrong filed an 80-page lawsuit on Monday aimed at halting the agency's case against him, but it was dismissed later that day. The lawsuit was refiled with changes on Tuesday. ...

The 32-year-old has been in hospital for eight days since suffering life-threatening head and facial injuries in a freak accident during a straight-line aerodynamic test at Duxford airfield in eastern England.
