Injured Vick to miss another start for fading Eagles

Reuters - (Reuters) - Philadelphia's fading NFL playoff hopes took another hit on Wednesday when quarterback Michael Vick was ruled out of this week's game against the Seattle Seahawks. Vick, who has injured ribs and will miss his third consecutive start on Thursday, will be replaced by Vince Young. The Eagles will also be without leading receiver Jeremy Maclin, who is sidelined with hamstring and shoulder problems. The Eagles, who acquired six former Pro Bowl players before the season started and were tipped as Super Bowl contenders, dropped to 4-7 after Sunday's 38-20 defeat to New England. ... Full Story

NFL confident of healthy price hikes in next TV deals

"I think in the next year or so we will have these deals done," said Brian Rolapp, head of the NFL's media business, of impending negotiations with its broadcast partners on the Sunday package of games. S.Africa's rand soars three pct, bonds also rally

Reuters - JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's rand surged as much as three percent against the dollar on Tuesday and government bonds soared to two week highs, in line with a global rally after central banks moved to improve financial liquidity conditions. The rand jumped to a session high of 8.0870, its strongest level since November 15, and was up 2.8 percent at 8.1150 by 1830 GMT. Government bonds followed suit, with the yield on the 2015 bond tumbling as much as 21 basis points to 6.76 percent before coming back slightly to close at 6.78 percent. ... Full Story
