(Updates at tea) Dec 3 (Reuters) - Peter Fulton and Hamish Rutherford were both dismissed after making solid starts as New Zealand reached 194 for three at tea on the first day of the first test against West Indies at University Oval in Dunedin on Tuesday. Ross Taylor was on 39 and Brendon McCullum on six at tea. Fulton and Aaron Redmond had resumed following the lunch break with the hosts well placed at 100 for one but they were subjected to a hostile spell from Tino Best, with the 32-year-old capturing the wicket of Redmond and peppering Taylor with short-pitched deliveries.

Dec 2 (The Sports Xchange) - The NFL acknowledged Monday that the officials made mistakes during the Washington Redskins' final drive on Sunday night against the New York Giants. The controversy surrounded a third down at the Washington 46-yard line after Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III completed a 4-yard pass to wide receiver Pierre Garcon with less than two minutes remaining in a game that the Giants won 24-17. Kazmir, 29, had success with the Tampa Bay Rays from 2005 through 2008, but he struggled after he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels in 2009. Kazmir made an impressive comeback with the Cleveland Indians in 2013, going 10-9 with a 4.04 ERA. Reaching an agreement with Kazmir suggests the A's have given up trying to re-sign Bartolo Colon for the 2014 season.
