Martinez's boxing days were over -- but not his athletic ambitions. Now aged 27 and a father-of-three, he is training to qualify as a sprinter for the London Paralympics with the help of President Hugo Chavez's socialist government. "The machete appeared so quickly. Heyward-Bey, who was stopped on April 7 at 2:40 a.m., faces up to six months in jail if convicted, said Stephanie Ong, a representative for the San Francisco district attorney's office. Australia to host 2014 Pan Pacific championships

Reuters - SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australia will host the next edition of the Pan Pacific swimming championships in 2014 in a still to be determined venue in the state of Queensland, Swimming Australia said on Friday. The now quadrennial championships feature Australia, United States, Canada, Brazil, New Zealand and Japan and are the most fiercely contested international meet outside the Olympics and world championships. The state capital Brisbane hosted the second PanPac championships in 1987. Swimming Australia said the 12th edition of the event would be held in August, 2014. ... Full Story

Despite spending almost two decades in F1, the 39-year-oldBarrichello had to prove his skill on the Indianapolis MotorSpeedway's 2.5-mile oval, going 10 laps at 200-205 mph followedby 15 laps at 205-210 mph and 15 laps at 210 mph or higher.
