It has been a challenging start to the season for the Briton, who continues to recover from off-season back surgery while taking applications for a new coach following his sudden split with Ivan Lendl. But after losing to world number two Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the Sony Open on Wednesday, Murray heads to Europe in an upbeat mood. | Shark gives Florida student two-hour ride, stars in YouTube video Wednesday, Mar 26, 2014 05:22 PM PDT By Barbara Liston ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - A hammerhead shark dragged a college student in his kayak up the Atlantic coast for a two-hour "South Florida sleigh ride" that the kayaker taped with a head-mounted camera and posted on YouTube. Adam Fisk, 22, posted a five-minute clip of his adventure titled "Lone Man Gets Towed for Miles in Kayak by 11 Foot Hammerhead Shark." At one point, Fisk dunked the camera into the water and recorded the shark swimming ahead of the kayak. A student at Florida Atlantic University, Fisk set out in a kayak on Sunday with several poles to go fishing before the shark took his bait near Boynton Beach, Florida. "I threw my bait out and went to reel my other one in so I wouldnt get tangled, and I just had time to pick up the rod before the other one already got picked up by that hammer," Fisk wrote on the YouTube site. For Djokovic, a three-time winner on the Miami hardcourts, the victory was a small measure of revenge as the rivals clashed for the first time since Murray beat the Serb in last year's Wimbledon final. Murray, playing his first event since splitting with coach Ivan Lendl last week, had looked increasingly comfortable and confident on his own but Djokovic kept the Scotsman under almost constant pressure in blustery conditions. In a move that will fuel a debate over whether college athletes are amateurs or professionals, a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) regional office said scholarship players at the Evanston, Illinois, school, who have not exhausted their playing eligibility, can vote in a union election. The NLRB will supervise the vote. But if a majority of the Northwestern Wildcats ultimately votes for a union, they could shake up the sporting world by opening the door for other athletes at private universities, which are subject to the National Labor Relations Act. | Cibulkova reaches Miami semis, cracks world top 10 Wednesday, Mar 26, 2014 03:04 PM PDT  By Steve Keating MIAMI (Reuters) - Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova fought of three match points to claim a 3-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 upset win over third seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland at a windswept Crandon Park on Wednesday to reach the Sony Open semis. With both players struggling in cool, blustery conditions, the 10th seeded Cibulkova reached the final four for the first time in eight visits to Miami despite being broken 10 times, committing 51 unforced errors and eight double faults. The match was certainly not of the same quality the pair showed in their Australian Open semi-final earlier this year, as Cibulkova waited until the fourth game of the second set before managing to hold serve for the first time. "I have to say I'm really glad, especially about my win today," said Cibulkova, who will move into the top 10 of the world rankings for the first time with the win. Full Story | Top |
