Overall, the global smartphone market grew 47 percent to a record 229.6 million, the research firm said. Second-ranked Apple Inc saw its market share shrink to 13.6 percent after selling 31.2 million iPhones, as smaller rivals such as LG Electronics Inc, ZTE Corp and Huawei Technologies Co Ltd seized larger slices. Raytheon CFO: Too soon to mull financial consequences for failed missile test

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Raytheon Co's chief financial officer said on Thursday that it was too soon to discuss whether the company would have to take any charges for a failed U.S. missile-defense test this month, when its interceptor failed to separate from the rest of the rocket. Raytheon ordered to stop work on U.S. Navy jammer contract

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Navy has told Raytheon Co to stop work on a next-generation electronic jamming system contract the company won on July 8, after BAE Systems Plc formally protested the contract award. Raytheon Chief Executive William Swanson, disclosing the stop-work order on Thursday, told analysts his company was "very comfortable" about its prospects for holding onto the contract. MOSCOW (Reuters) - Ilya Segalovich, the co-founder and chief technology officer of Russian internet group Yandex, is in a coma, suffering with complications from cancer, the company's chief executive said on Thursday. The company earlier announced the death of Segalovich, aged 48, who had been diagnosed with a treatable form of cancer. "We want to clarify an earlier statement that the company put out. We have since learnt that Ilya is in coma and on life support although not showing any brain function. Our thoughts are with him at this time," Arkady Volozh said on a conference call. ...

Sirius XM revenue up on subscriber gains, churn improves

Sirius shares rose 1.6 percent in premarket trading. Gabelli & Co analyst Brett Harriss said the company's churn, or rate of cancellations, beat his estimates, improving to 1.7 percent in the quarter, down from 1.9 percent a year earlier. The company, whose products include Post-it notes and film for flat-panel televisions, said second-quarter net income rose to $1.2 billion, or $1.71 per share, from $1.17 billion, or $1.66 per share a year ago.
