Oct 25 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Friday's National Hockey League games. - - - Blue Jackets 5, Maple Leafs 2 Brandon Dubinsky's short-handed goal with just over seven and a half minutes remaining, a 3-on-4 goal, led the Blue Jackets to a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Marian Gaborik, Ryan Johansen, Nick Foligno and rookie Ryan Murray also scored for the Blue Jackets, who have won three straight games after a four-game road losing streak. New director for Jamaican doping body ahead of WADA audit

By Kayon Raynor KINGSTON (Reuters) - The under-fire Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) has appointed a new executive director just three days before the start of a World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) audit of its operations, the Jamaican government said on Friday. Carey Brown is a trained chemist and business management specialist and will succeed Renee Anne Shirley, who said in August that JADCO had carried out just one out-of-competition test from February 2012 to the start of the London Olympics in July. ...

SYDNEY, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Former Tour de France winner Cadel Evans will race on home soil for the first time since he won the French classic next January after confirming his participation in the Tour Down Under. The 36-year-old BMC rider was the first Australian to win road cycling's most prestigious event and returns to the event in South Australia for the first time since his eighth appearance in 2010. Oct 25 (The Sports Xchange) - Hall of Famer Bill Sharman died Friday, his wife told the Los Angeles Times. He was 87. Joyce Sharman said her husband had a stroke last week and died at his home in Redondo Beach, Calif. Sharman, who was part of three NBA titles as a player for the Boston Celtics, also coached the Los Angeles Lakers to their first NBA championship in 1972. Sharman was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a player in 1976 and as a coach in 2004. ...
