Sharapova out of U.S. Open with shoulder injury Wednesday, Aug 21, 2013 09:21 PM PDT By Simon Evans (Reuters) - Third-seeded Russian Maria Sharapova has pulled out of next week's U.S. Open due to a shoulder injury, tournament organizers said on Wednesday. The four-times grand slam winner, who triumphed at Flushing Meadows in 2006, fired coach Jimmy Connors last week after just one match together. The 26-year-old world number three, who is suffering from inflammation in her right shoulder, said withdrawing from the year's final grand slam was "a really tough decision to make". ... Baby circumcisions in U.S. hospitals decline over three decades Wednesday, Aug 21, 2013 09:08 PM PDT By Eric M. Johnson (Reuters) - The rate of circumcisions performed on newborn boys in U.S. hospitals dropped 6 percentage points over the last three decades, with an especially steep decline in Western states, according to U.S. government data released on Thursday. The national rate declined to 58.3 percent in 2010 from 64.5 percent in 1979, according to the report from the National Center for Health Statistics.
