By Marice Richter DALLAS (Reuters) - The Texas Department of Public Safety said on Thursday it had withdrawn a subpoena for information from Twitter regarding two tweets about conservative Texas lawmakers, including Governor Rick Perry, and the passage of restrictive abortion regulations. The department had sought information, documents and records related to the Twitter accounts of Denise Romano of Austin and Michael Mayer of New York in an investigation into their tweets between July 17 and 19, the day before and after Perry signed the abortion bill into law. ...

Pacira Pharma pain drug fails late-stage trial

(Reuters) - Pacira Pharmaceuticals Inc said its lead drug did not meet the main goal in a late-stage trial of reducing pain for patients undergoing a surgical procedure called posterolateral thoracotomy. Pacira said the company did not meet the main goal of reducing pain scores over 72 hours, compared with a placebo. The results are from a second late-stage study of the drug, Exparel, which is already approved as a single-dose injection to treat postsurgical pain. FDA warns of serious rash risk with acetaminophen pain pills

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Tylenol and other painkillers containing the ingredient acetaminophen can cause a potentially deadly skin rash known as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, U.S. health regulators said on Thursday. Companies that sell prescription acetaminophen will be required to add a warning about the skin rash to the drug's package insert, the Food and Drug Administration said. The agency will also request or encourage companies who sell acetaminophen products over the counter to add a warning about the risk of serious skin reactions. ...
