Reuters - HONOLULU (Reuters) - The last of three U.S. Marines court-martialed on charges they physically abused and humiliated a fellow Marine who later killed himself was acquitted on Friday of all charges in the case by a military jury. The case stems from the suicide of Lance Corporal Harry Lew, 21, who shot himself with his automatic rifle in Afghanistan last April after he was allegedly beaten and hazed by others in his unit for falling asleep while on sentry duty. ... Prominent lawyer sentenced in baby-selling scheme

Reuters - SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - A prominent California adoption lawyer was sentenced to federal prison on Friday for her role in running a baby-selling ring that placed unborn children of surrogate mothers with unrelated parents for up to $100,000 each. Theresa Erickson pleaded guilty in August to a wire fraud conspiracy charge stemming from what authorities said was essentially an adoption mill that skirted state laws requiring surrogate mothers in California to sign contracts with their prospective clients before becoming pregnant. ... Reuters - WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The former chairman of a Taiwan's Depo Auto Parts Industrial Co Ltd has agreed to plead guilty to fixing the prices of some spare auto parts, the U.S. Justice Department said on Friday. Shiu-Min Hsu also agreed to cooperate in the Justice Department's investigation into price-fixing for after-market auto lights between 2000 and 2008, the department said. A Depo subsidiary, Maxzone Vehicle Lighting Corp, previously agreed to plead guilty to a price-fixing conspiracy and to pay $43 million in fines. BTA, now controlled by Kazakh sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna and which has launched nine fraud claims against Ablyazov, called on the High Court to order him to turn himself in within two weeks or remove his right to defend himself against all allegations. ...
